Our Story
It Started With a Question.
What if education adapted to children instead of constantly asking children to adapt to education?
Founded by educator and parent Damica Odom, Sparks Village Academy grew from firsthand experiences with traditional, virtual, and home-based learning—and seeing families navigate overcrowded classrooms, limited resources, inequities, and disconnected systems of support.
There had to be another way.

Meet The Founder
Damica Odom is an educator, educational leader, and mother committed to creating learning experiences that recognize the whole child. With experience across traditional, virtual, and home-based education, she has seen firsthand how differently children learn—and how much families carry when trying to meet their needs.
She founded Sparks Village Academy to create something different: an educational ecosystem where academics, family support, wellness, and community work together instead of existing in separate spaces.
Damica holds a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership at Capella University.
Her vision for SVA is rooted in a simple belief: when we support the whole child and strengthen the village around them, we create more opportunities for children to thrive.
